What is fished more in Mexico ?

Fishing in Mexico is one of the largest industries, generating a lot of revenue and though not developed, obviously is very important.

Fishing in rivers, lakes, ponds, dams and marshes is less representative than the sea, but of great value in some regions of Mexico for its food and economic contribution.

In 2011, most of the fishing took place in the Pacific. For example, in this coastal capture 83% of the volume of total fisheries production was carried out, while the Gulf coast and the Caribbean participated with 14.4% and landlocked entities contributed 2.49%.

The most representative species for the amount of income generated in Mexico are tuna, tilapia and shrimp.

Other important fishery products are sardines, octopus, lobster, sea bass and red snapper, along with forty other species of lower production.
